Venetian Resort: Las Vegas

18 Jun

What better than Sin City for a post-grad trip?! The last time I was in Vegas, I was barely 17 and therefore, sin city was not so sinful. This time around, we stayed at the beautiful Venetian Resort on the Las Vegas boulevard strip. First let me say that I do not gamble, so I can’t comment on that aspect of the Venetian but everything else was awesome! The gondola rides, the beautiful Venetian decor, the swimming pool, the remake of the St.Marks square, the concierge, the dining options, the list goes on and on!

Once you finally leave the resort complex you find the hotel is well located on the strip. It is opposite Treasure Island Casino Resort and just a short walk from Caesar’s Palace Resort and all the other major resorts of the strip.

You heard about all the hype. News of Facebook buying Instagram made the social photo-sharing app even more popular than before. Within a few weeks, it reached a 100 million users and it just keeps growing and growing. Fairmont Southampton Hotel at Bermuda

17 Jun

Staying at this hotel was one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had. If you are planning to go to Bermuda and are wondering whether to stay in Hamilton or Southampton, definitely stay in one of the hotels at Southampton. You’ll have miles of pink sand beaches at your doorstep and you can always go to Hamilton for the restaurants during the day.

The guestrooms are very spacious with at least 450 sq-ft with a private balcony and marble bathrooms and walk-in closets. The hotel also has the famous Willow Stream Spa and an 18-hole Golf Course. There are complimentary ferries to the sister resort, the Fairmont Hamilton. My favorite, the Dive Centre, also offers snorkeling and off-shore diving services at the hotel’s private beach.

Here are some photos I took around the hotel. Enjoy!

Two months ago in April, I was extremely stressed out and worn out and needed time to get away. I thought, why not go to Bermdua? I managed to take the friday and left for the weekend to Bermuda. Bermuda is a British overseas territory located just a two-hour flight away from Baltimore and I have wanted to go for months. The Airtran direct flights are seasonal and only operate between April and October. Here are some snapshots I took before we landed! Enjoy.

Dining at Benihana

14 Jun

There is just something special about food prepared right in front you by professional chefs who do all sorts of amazing knife tricks. Benihana is a family-friendly restaurant and you’ll almost always hear happy birthday songs and see anniversary smiles. 🙂 On all 3 occasions that I’ve eaten at Benihana, I was with my one and only sister, twice in NYC and once in Miami. More on her later.

A Trip to Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET)

12 Jun

New York, it definitely puts a spell on you.

If I had to choose a favorite city in continental USA, it would definitely be NYC. The energy, the street lights, the commotion, the culture and the food, it just takes your breath away. I go to New York every couple of months since it was so close to Baltimore, where I went to university for three years, and i could never get enough of it. The shopping was the best and you always discover something new.

I was with my family this last trip to New York and as usual, all they wanted to do was go shopping but I really really wanted to go see the Prada and Schiaparelli Exhibition (Impossible Conversations) and finally convinced my mom to go with me. As usual, the Met doesn’t disappoint. Photography was strictly forbidden inside the exhibition so I only managed to take a couple of shots. The ballgowns were breathtaking and I highly encourage everyone in NYC to go visit before the exhibition is over on August 19th, so just a little over two months.

The exhibition explores the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras. Inspired by Miguel Covarrubias’s “Impossible Interviews” for Vanity Fair in the 1930s, the exhibition features orchestrated conversations between these iconic women to suggest new readings of their most innovative work. Iconic ensembles are presented with videos of simulated conversations between Schiaparelli and Prada directed by Baz Luhrmann, focusing on how both women explore similar themes in their work through very different approaches.

Another thing I like to do whenever I go to a museum is to go to the Southeast Asian section see if they have any artifacts or sculptures from Myanmar, my home country. I’m always surprised by all the beautiful buddhist sculptures that they have managed to uncover and transport thousands of miles away to be showcased in all these prominent museums.

Enjoy. xxx
